This position is responsible for creating and driving Hispanic publicity efforts in the areas of public relations, media relations, event planning and community relations for UFC live events, focusing on building strong media contacts and relationships while maintaining established messaging and brand identity. Also responsible for planning, developing, editing, and coordinating production and publishing of original, hard hitting, compelling web content on UFCespanol.com
1. Develops and manages relationships with print writers, television producers and significant online media within the Hispanic market domestically and internationally
2. Writes press releases, media advisories and talking points in Spanish. Translates company communication press releases, and written articles from English to Spanish.
3. Collaborates with colleagues to contribute innovative ideas to improve media tactics and team strengths.
4. Provides support for other public relations programs, such as DVD events, and charity functions, etc.
5. Serves as on-site contact at local market media activities.
6. Provides quantifiable results on a weekly basis to supervisor.
7. Drives publicity with media for press conferences for events and major announcements.
8. Develops creative story lines and pitches for media.
9. Coordinates media interviews, in-studio appearances, etc.
10. Handles media queries accurately and efficiently.
11. Supports events and activities.
12. Coordinates and supports media operations at live events.
13. Supports community relations activities with publicity, on-site coordination, etc.
14. Develops and executes local market press materials.
15. Lead overall web content strategy and processes
16. Oversee copy editing process for all new content to ensure accuracy and consistency with brand and style
17. Develop and maintain relationships with strategic partner web sites that will facilitate the dissemination of UFC content across the web
18. Determine placement of new content based on web strategy and processes
19. Plan editorial features in both written and video formats
20. Coordinate the publishing of press releases with all websites, changing headlines and summaries to more appropriately speak to each website’s main focus
21. Actively work with social media (Twitter, Facebook, etc..) to increase the profile of the UFC
22. Go through all text on major facing pages at least once a day to verify correct spelling, grammar, show dates, times and other details on UFCEspanol.com
23. Seeks continual growth and expertise in the public relations body of knowledge.
24. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Interactive Media or related field, or equivalent work experience.
2. 1-3 years experience in public relations capacity strongly desired.
3. Thorough knowledge of principles of effective communications and mass media, publicity, advertising, policies, community relations, and organization structure as they relate to entertainment and sports events.
4. Fully bilingual with the ability to quickly, concisely, and accurately read, write and translate written materials and verbal fluency
5. Thorough knowledge of the Hispanic media landscape both domestically and internationally, including television, print, radio, and new media.
6. Ability to plan, organize, and effectively present ideas and concepts to groups.
7. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
8. Demonstrated knowledge and experience of the use of mass media.
9. Ability to maintain discretion and confidential information.
10. Knowledge of web publishing systems and other graphics support software such as Adobe Creative Suite is a plus
11. Understanding of web search technologies and web metrics a plus
12. Basic Photoshop skills
13. A working knowledge of HTML
14. Experience with streaming audio and visual, blogs, podcasts, a plus
15. Understanding of social media strongly desired
16. Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook and ability to learn other basic computer programs
